Celebrating Workforce Development Month: From Kauaʻi to Hawaiʻi Island

ree

We’re excited to highlight our Workforce Development programs at Ohana Pacific Health during this month of September. At OPH, we work collaboratively with our community partners and organizations to develop programs that help our employees advance in their careers in healthcare.

Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) Training

Individuals looking to start a career in healthcare can take advantage of our Earn and Learn Nurse Aide Training Program where they can receive training at no cost, while gaining hands-on experience. Participants “earn while they learn,” receiving paid practical training and support as they complete their coursework and skills training. Upon successful completion, graduates are eligible to take the Hawaiʻi state CNA certification exam (Prometrics).

Those who are already enrolled in a Nurse Aide Training Program may qualify for tuition reimbursement through our CNA Tuition Assistance Program. Together, these initiatives are designed to remove financial barriers, promote workforce development, and help build the next generation of skilled, compassionate caregivers for our kūpuna.

To further support our Earn and Learn Nurse Aide Training Program, we also implemented the Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) Preceptor Program, which pairs new Certified Nurse Aides with experienced team members (CNA Level II) who serve as mentors and role models. CNA Preceptors provide hands-on training, guidance, and encouragement to help new CNAs build confidence and deliver excellent care. This program not only supports our newest caregivers but also empowers seasoned staff to share their knowledge and leadership. Together, we’re building a stronger, more supportive care team for our residents and community.

CNA to Licensed Practical Nurse Bridge Program

This program is a collaborative effort with Hale Makua Health Services, Ohana Pacific Health and University of Hawaiʻi Maui College. This program offers Practical Nursing training opportunities for working CNAs on Maui, Oʻahu, Kauaʻi, and Hawaiʻi Island.
