Ashlynne Spencer, Resident Care Manager, Ann Pearl Rehab & Nursing

Updated: May 30

What do you do at Ann Pearl Rehab & Nursing?

Hi, my name is Ashlynne, and I’m a Resident Care Manager at Ann Pearl Nursing Facility.

How did you get interested in the health care field?

I was inspired to become a nurse because growing up I was in and out of the hospital often when my grandfather was ill. I was able to see the nurses who were able to help him. I recall them coming into the room to assess him and provide care and when they would leave the room, I would mimic them by looking at the electrocardiogram (EKG) monitor and reassuring my grandfather “it looks okay”. From second grade on, I aspired to become a nurse to help others.

What advice would you have for others interested in a career with Ann Pearl Rehab & Nursing or the healthcare field?

Really think about why you want to pursue nursing. If you have the heart and the compassion to help others, then this is the career path for you. This is more than just a “job”. This is a career that is both rewarding and stressful in the best possible way. You need to have the heart for it. You will meet the most amazing people along the way, both patients and coworkers alike.

What does Asian American and Pacific Islanders Heritage Month mean to me?

It shows diversity and appreciation for all cultures and heritages. It brings education and awareness for the different heritages.

Who or what influenced you to be the person that you are today?

My grandfather.
